Black Women Suffer With Hypertension According to Research

According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Minority Health due to race and gender Black women are more likely to have high blood pressure than non Hispanic white women. In addition Black women usually out number Black men when it comes to high blood pressure which means they have the most cases in the country. The serious consequences of untreated hypertension are heart and renal disease and many times strokes as stated by PhD, MPH Allana T, Forde an investigator at the National Institutes of Health. Forde’s specialty examines “racial disparities in health outcomes”. Which has concluded that almost have (42%) of “Black adults in the U.S. have elevated blood pressure.” Being vigilant” as a defense or “coping” strategy for racism was linked to higher odds of having the disease as reported by the American Journal of Hypertension and Health.
