John Boyega has had an impactful year and British GQ has acknowledge it for the second time by bestowing their “Icon of The Year” honor to the actor.

He joined the revolution that has taken place in the entertainment/sports sectors which sprouted activist who refuse to “shut up and dribble” or according to Boyega “take the money and hush”. At only 28 years old he’s carved himself into Star Wars history appearing in the film three times and has already established a career that spans beyond a decade. However one of his greatest attributes has been his bravery and ability to unapologetically speak up for those who are without his platform against social injustices and governmental racism. The thespian said “Normally the assumption is you keep quiet, you keep cashing checks and you keep it moving. That’s the hardest thing to navigate, when you don’t feel that way.” “Black lives have always mattered, we have always been important. We have always meant something. We have always succeeded regardless. And now is the time. I ain’t waiting” as reported by the AP. Are you inspired?
