Gone To Soon: Star University of Utah Player Dies at 19

Ty Jordan, a star freshman running back for the University of Utah who is a Dallas native was reported deceased by school officials over the weekend. His school released the following statement:

On behalf of the entire University of Utah, our love and condolences to Ty Jordan’s family, friends, teammates and coaches. We are devastated by this heartbreaking news. To watch Ty on the field was to be thrilled by his athleticism and talent. Rest in peace, Ty.”

The schools coach Kyle Whittingham described Jordan beautifully and credited the young man for making a “huge impact” on the schools football program. A preliminary investigation conducted in Denton, Texas discovered a gunshot injury that appeared to be self inflicted according to authorities “following a preliminary investigation we do believe that this was an accidental shooting, where the victim accidentally shot himself.”

Jordan was awarded the “All-Pac-12” honor last week after closing his first college season with 597 yards, six touchdowns and 83 carries during only 5 games. Jordan is preceded in death by his mother who passed at the age of 43 in August.
