
It has not been virtually impossible to connect with loved ones during a year that 2020 vision proved insufficient to predict thanks to Zoom. The American owned communications company enabled happy birthday helms to be sung and heart wrenching goodbyes to be said in a last attempt to digitally comfort dying loved ones whom many loss due to Covid-19. Normally free Zoom video sessions are restricted to 40 minute intervals but the company announced that it will lift those time limits in two parts starting December 23-26 in recognition of Kwanzaa, Christmas and Hanukkah. The second onset will be from Dec. 30 to Jan. 2 in an effort to enable socially distanced loved ones to safely bond for the New Year. The company released a statement on their platform saying “Covid-19 has changed how we live, work and celebrate in 2020, and like everything else this year, the holiday season doesn’t look the same.” They went on to assert “As a token of appreciation to our users during an extraordinary time, we’re removing the 40 minute time limit on free Zoom accounts for all meetings globally for several upcoming special occasions.” Zoom also recently appointed a Black man namely Damien Campbell as it’s “Chief Diversity Officer.”
