New Covid-19 Alert Can Inform You If An Infected Person Is Near

Covid-19 hasn’t voluntarily slowed down but the way we approach it has become more technologically savvy.

In the fight against the highly contagious virus health officials have deferred to cell phones to pump the brakes on spiraling infection rates. Google and Apple have agreed to allow “pop up notifications” in localities (where permitted) that immediately let you know if you’re in a close proximity to someone who’s tested positive for Covid-19. The alerts come from “state health department apps” and use Bluetooth technology to allow your phone to detect when you’re in the vicinity of an infected individual. The preventative feature can only be accessed by turning your phones Bluetooth setting on and is currently available in Alabama, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Michigan, Minnesota, Maryland, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Wyoming and Washington, DC as reported by CNN.
