Their is no rulebook for grieving. In fact grief is a completely normal & natural reaction to losing a loved one. The pain caused by the loss of someone you held dear can trigger a range of emotions that may include shock, sadness, anger or disbelief. These feelings are all custom to the individual and perfectly organic. Grieving is a marathon not a sprint so allow yourself the time to heal gradually however be vigilant and recognize the difference between grief and depression. 1. Create a new tradition in memory of your loved one.

2. Buy a gift you would’ve given to your loved one and donate it to charity.

3. Say yes to help and accept the support of people who are trying to help you through the loss.

4. Make time for yourself to be quiet, pray, journal, meditate or listen to music as a way to recharge.

5. Volunteer in the bereaves memory.

6. Be honest about your feelings to those who are close around you. If you don’t want to spend the holidays in the way they envisioned let them know. Everyone doesn’t grieve the same allow yourself that fluidity.

7. Acknowledge that things will be different and perhaps tough and make extra time for pampering or self care. It’s always a great way to destress, you deserve it.
