On Tuesday (November 10) the surviving family of Vincent Truitt the 17 year old teenager who was fatally shot by an Atlanta area police officer in July and their attorney Gerald A. The teens father and attorney along with other members of the family watched the footage and said Truitt exited a car he wasn’t driving at the end of a chase and after attempting to run three steps he was shot two twice from behind in his back.

“After Vincent was shot, Vincent drops to the ground, you can hear him speaking to the officer, he pointedly asked the officer, “Why did you shoot me?” The families attorney detailed during a press conference as reported by “11 Alive.” “The officer at that point says “Because you have a gun. Griggs also revealed that the videos showed clearly that a gun was “not pointed” towards the officer at any time and that Truitt never in fact faced the officer at any point though the Georgia Bureau of Investigations has chosen to dispute those claims but are allegedly examining all facts and details. Do you think it will ever occur to police that black men are running from them because they are afraid and continuing to kill them validates that notion?
